expertreviews.co.uk (rating: 4 / 5): "This rough gem won't appeal to everyone but if you like thoughtful RPGs with plenty of subtext, it's well worth its price"; "Still, it's well worth the cost if you're a traditional RPG fan who'd like to explore a path less well travelled."

playeraffinity.com (rating: 7.5 / 10): "an interactive poem?"; "a game for persons who will enjoy unraveling mysteries and interpreting metaphors."

talkingaboutgames.com (score: B): "If you're in the mood for a unique experience you should definitely check it out; it's different than anything else you've ever played."

jayisgames.com (rating: 4.5 / 5): "quiet, slow-paced, and very different kind of tactical role playing game"; "if you're looking for a game that's heavy on emotion, character, and storytelling, this one won't disappoint."

rockpapershotgun.com (Quintin Smith): "despite its crippling flaws it managed to be one of my favourite indie games of 2010. I'm head over heels in love with Beyond the Pillars, devs of Winter Voices, and what they're trying to do."; "Excitingly, a patch is now out addressing some of Avalanche's more unforgiveable problems, so if you were on the fence about this game before, by all means, topple off."

epicdolls.com: Game Dames Vidcast: "a great atmosphere"; "the concept is very interesting: it takes away from the usual hack & slash; it's more about dealing with things"; "it's very much up my alley when it comes to storytelling"; "it makes you actually get into it and feel something"; "at least, give it a shot and see what it's all about and experience the concept of it"
